Unclaimed property held at the ERS is made up of benefits that have been available for disbursement, but have not been paid to the owner for a period of one year from first being made available. This includes un-cashed benefit checks, unclaimed account balances for prior city employees who do not have enough qualifying time to be vested in the ERS, and final payments that have not been claimed by the owner’s beneficiary.
